Help Afghan Evacuees in the Berkshires

Thousands of Afghan families and individuals are arriving in the United States after a perilous journey from Kabul. Over 1.000 will be arriving in Massachusetts. Jewish Family Service of Western Massachusetts (JFS) expects to take in 150 of these evacuees, including a group of 60 whom they anticipate resettling in Pittsfield within a few months.
As Jews, we know what it is like to be "the stranger." That is why we are sharing the information below from JFS on ways you can help.

How You Can Help

JOB OPPORTUNITY: Jewish Family Service of Western Massachusetts is seeking a full-time Berkshires Resettlement Coordinator to join our New American Program. Apply    

GIVE: Your gift will provide support to the families and individuals resettling through JFS.
HELP FIND HOUSINGJFS is looking to rent affordable apartments, Airbnbs, and accessory dwelling units, and are even considering hosts willing to share their homes with a family.
DONATE SPECIFIC HOUSEHOLD ITEMS: JFS has created a wish list for goods on that will be needed as they prepare. The information is also on their website. All deliveries should be directed to Jewish Family Service at 15 Lenox Street, Springfield, MA.
VOLUNTEER: JFS will be coordinating volunteers to help these folks successfully acclimate to their new community. Please complete the JFS volunteer application if you are interested in volunteering.
SHARE: Many of your neighbors and friends may be looking for ways to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Forward them this email or go to the JFS Facebook page to share their posts and encourage taking action.
