Seeking Part-time Development Director

The Development Director works with the Executive Director and lay leadership to plan and implement the annual campaign and major gifts fundraising effort. Reporting to the Executive Director, responsibilities include research, cultivation, engagement, solicitation of funds, implementation of cultivation and fundraising events, committee meetings, and other projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategy for implementing the annual campaign, major gift solicitations, and special campaigns in partnership with the Executive Director and Development Committee.
  • Develop and employ various fundraising techniques, including face-to-face and phone solicitations, social media, events, and written communications in accomplishing fundraising goals.
  • Educate donors and prospects about the mission of the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires through one-on-one and group cultivation activities.
  • Conduct prospect research on individual donors to grow the organization’s individual donor communities 
  • Engage lay leadership to identify, cultivate, and establish new donor relationships.
  • Build and steward trusted relationships with lay leaders and donors and develop moves management strategies to increase their financial commitment.
  • Provide professional support to the development committee, including agenda setting, preparing reports and presentations, writing meeting notes, and providing necessary follow-up.
  • Identify, train, and support board and volunteer solicitors through assigned donor portfolio cultivation and stewardship.
  • Plan and implement key fundraising events with the support of Federation staff.

Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Three plus years minimum fundraising experience with personal solicitation expereince. 
  • Comfortable with high-net-worth donors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship-building skills, and customer service orientation.
  • Communication skills, written and verbal, are essential, especially the art of listening.
  • Knowledge of and passion for the Federation’s mission.
  • Team player with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with fundraising databases.
  • Use of social media, including Facebook and Instagram.
  • Working knowledge of Zoom technology and facilitating virtual meetings and events.

Generous compensation package including salary commensurate with relevant experience in the $39-$41 per hour range.
