The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires Connecting with Community series presents "Helping Youngsters Escape Poverty in Nepal" with Ricky Bernstein.

Bernstein, director of Hands in Outreach, a small non-profit literacy program for very poor girls in inner-city Kathmandu, Nepal, will speak on the origins of his interest in the education of girls living in poverty on the other side of the planet, and how Hands in Outreach and education can make a profound difference in the lives of girls and their families.  He will also talk about the politics of poverty and privilege, and then share a few stories about the girls and families sponsored by the organization through a presentation of images of life in Nepal.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
