The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community welcomes author Susie Kaufman as she invites the audience to accompany her on a journey of inquiry.  Join us from the beginnings of her Jewish childhood in NY in the 50s to the unknowable final frontier where the crowded canvas of the past gives way to the uncharted future. There will be time for participants to share their own memories and concerns.

This program will include a reading of selections from Twilight Time, highlighting the book's focus on memory, aging, and mortality.  Signed books will be available for sale.

After a lifetime of spiritual inquiry, she is now letting go and acknowledging the mystery. Kaufman's perspective on death and dying was formed in her work as a hospice chaplain. She sat with patients and their families as they confronted the unknown. Now in her seventies, she brings us along for the ride as she considers her own mortality and her own meaning-making enterprise.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
