Do you love the exquisiteness of the Berkshires? Join Mariah Auman and Charlotte Hood for a guided walk at Parsons Marsh.
In preparation for the month of Elul, take a deep breath and join us for a late morning walk in the beauty of the natural world together with BNRC’s Mariah Auman, Community Conservation Manager, and Charlotte Hood, Volunteer and Outreach Assistant at the Parsons Marsh reserve in Lenox. We’ll enjoy the 1/3-mile accessible trail that winds through an open meadow to a small pond before transitioning to the boardwalk and forested wetland. Learn about the natural history of this reserve and observe the ridge where the first section of The High Road is now open to the public. BNRC staff will also describe the different strategies for conservation.
Mariah grew up in the Southern Appalachians and developed a passion for conserved lands at a young age. She has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from UNC Asheville and is the Vice President of MassLand’s Young Land Professionals. Her work with BNRC began as an intern in 2016. She then served as the Community Engagement Coordinator through MassLIFT AmeriCorps and now supports BNRC’s community conservation efforts by coordinating free public hikes and special events, educational programs, and volunteer workdays.
Despite growing up in New York City, Charlotte always found herself drawn to the natural world, whether it be the pigeon outside my window or the classroom bunny. Charlotte quickly found herself at home amongst the trees while attending Skidmore College in upstate New York. With a degree in Environmental Studies and a background in environmental education, Charlotte loves sharing her love for nature with others as BNRC’s Volunteer and Outreach Assistant.
