The Current Events Seminar will give participants an opportunity to examine and discuss topical and newsworthy national and international issues. For each session, the moderator will suggest readings, introduce topics, and offer discussion questions. The seminar will be conducted throughout in a collaborative and collegial manner, with all participants encouraged to voice their opinions.

Rabbi Starr spent two years as a chaplain at Fort Bliss, Tx., before assuming the pulpit of Temple Adath Yeshurun in Manchester, N.H. where, after 31 years, he was named Rabbi Emeritus. While in Manchester, he spent many summers working at Eisner Camp and leading trips to Israel. He went on to spend more than six years as the Rabbi of the Hebrew Congregation of St. Thomas.. After retiring the second time, Rabbi Starr and his wife Linda started a chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He has spent much of the last 10 years as the rabbi on cruise ships.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting with Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $3 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
