The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community series presents "Broadway, Schrafft's and Seeded Rye - Growing Up Slightly Jewish on the Upper West Side" with author, Lyla Blake Ward.

Ward will share memories of life on the Upper West Side in the early 1930s and early 1940s.  For those who only heard and want to learn more about the "Gilded Ghetto," Ward will discuss a place where everybody walked to school, children played marbles across West End Avenue, and where, weather permitting, families strolled on Broadway, the Rambla of the Upper West Side.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
