The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community welcomes Dr. Avraham Horowitz as he discusses the novel A Horse Walks into a Bar by David Grossman, published in 2017 by Alfred A Knopf, NY, translated from Hebrew by Jessica Cohen.

Grossman is the author of many novels, translated into more than 40 languages. The novel covers an event lasting about 2 hours in a bar in the city of Netanya, near Tel Aviv, where a 57 year old stand-up comedian shares from the stage not only jokes, but also a personal tragic story that occurred during his teenage years.  The novel won the prestigious British Man Booker International Prize for English Translations in 2017.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
