Ramblin’ with the Rav hikes feature a morning of enjoying our beautiful neighborhood - exercise, a beautiful view, good company, a bit of Torah, and fantastic conversation on the trail. This is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships and community while enjoying the outdoors. Rabbi Weiner leads the hikes, which typically take place on select Wednesday and Sunday mornings in the warmer months of the year. Every route is unique. Please note the difficulty, distance, total elevation gain and approximate time of each hike. Driving time is not included. Be responsible and realistic regarding your fitness and stamina. All hikes are potentially family-friendly; all but one welcome leashed dogs as well. In the summer, some include an opportunity for wading or swimming, at participants’ risk. Members and non-members of KI are welcome. Prospective participants must register in advance for each hike at www.knessetisrael.org/rsvp. Registrants will receive information about the demands of the route, what to wear, what to bring, where to meet, etc…, and be added to an email list for communication before the hike. Poor weather may lead to a postponement to the rain date, usually communicated the day before, and low RSVP numbers may cause a cancellation a day or two in advance. Questions? Please contact Rabbi Weiner by email at rabbiweiner@outlook.com. Sun, September 8 - Hopper & Stony Ledge, Mt. Greylock, Williamstown
Strenuous, 5.7 miles, about 1500’, 3+ hours
Arguably the best view from Mt. Greylock isn’t from the summit but from Stony Ledge, on its western flank. We’ll climb from the Haley Farm parking lot up the somewhat grueling trail climbing the ridge next to the Hopper, walk the mile along Sperry Rd., pause at Stony Ledge, then descend steeply to the parking lot.
This hike is only suitable for people with strong hips, knees, and hearts. Leashed dogs are welcome.
Meet at KI at 10 a.m. We’ll carpool to the trailhead. (It is also possible to meet us there around 10:30.)
Rain date Sun, September 15
